Community Impact

How county leaders use that revenue is entirely up to them, but here’s one example of what it could fund:

Project Catalyst would generate $7.7 million in additional tax revenue to the community every year at full build out. For comparison, the county’s general-fund education spending last fiscal year* totaled $6.8 million and the total county ad-valorem tax revenue collected was $17.4 million.

Make Anson County teachers among the highest-paid in North Carolina, helping retain the best educators and attract new ones,

AND

Cut property taxes for homeowners and property owners by 10%,

AND

Still have millions left over annually for parks and recreation, debt reduction, capital improvements, and other community priorities identified by county leadership.

Workforce Impact

Workforce Impact

Before a single server goes online, building a data center requires hundreds or thousands of skilled workers. Construction of a facility of this scale typically spans two to three years and draws on a wide range of trades and specialties.

Construction roles include:

• Electricians – data centers require some of the most sophisticated electrical infrastructure of any building type

• HVAC & Mechanical Trades – installation of industrial-scale cooling systems, chilled water piping, and ventilation

• Steel & Structural Workers – large-format buildings with precision tolerances

• Low-Voltage & Cabling Crews – fiber, networking, and communications infrastructure

• Civil & Site Work – grading, utilities, paving, and stormwater

• Construction Project Managers & Supervisors

Many of these opportunities flow directly to local and regional contractors.

Permanent Operations

Permanent Operations

Once open, Project Catalyst will employ a permanent local workforce with average wages of around $75,000-$100,000.

These are on-site, full-time jobs (not remote).

Below are general descriptions of the types of jobs data centers create:

Facilities & Critical Infrastructure

IT & Network Operations

Security

Management & Administration

A Career Path

Many of today’s senior data center engineers started as technicians. South Piedmont Community College and other regional institutions offer programs in electrical technology, HVAC, networking, and information systems that align directly with these career paths. We’re also committed to partnering with South Piedmont Community College and working with Anson County workforce development programs to help train local residents for these new high-tech jobs.
